POSCO Energy receives qualification

POSCO Energy received a qualification of natural gas business for vessels in September from the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, as the very first among the LNG terminal operators from private sector.

POSCO Energy has been preparing for acquisition of the qualification as an amendment to the Urban Gas Business Act, which contains the new establishment of natural gas business for vessels.

The company acquired the qualification as the No. 1 from private sector in line with the implementation of the revision from 5th August and is planning to operate a test-driving business of LNG vessels for Korean shipbuilders.

LNG vessels test-driving business refers to a service that inspects whether LNG has been stably stored and major facilities are properly operating before shipbuilders deliver LNG carriers to ship owners.

POSCO Energy signed a ‘Contract for LNG Carriers Test-Driving Service’ with Hyundai Heavy Industries, Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering, Samsung Heavy Industries and Hyundai Samho Heavy Industries on 30th June, to expand the Korean domestic LNG vessels test-driving business.
