Leading liquefied natural gas (LNG) shipping expert GTT has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the China Classification Society (CCS) which will allow the companies to cooperate on aspects of China’s LNG infrastructure using the application of GTT membrane technology.

This technical cooperation will involve the partners working on the design of China’s LNG inland waterway transportation, small to large liquefied natural gas carriers (LNGCs), LNG-fuelled vessels and onshore LNG storage tanks.

CCS, a professional certification and inspection body, will perform an in-depth technical analysis in addition to conducting a technical plan approval of the cargo containment system and a risk assessment.

Discussions centred around international and domestic energy development also took place, both parties will consider the future reduction of carbon emissions in the shipping industry. Findings of the technical analysis will be shared during Shanghai’s Marintec 2021 exhibition.
