Netherlands-based sustainable marine fuels specialist GoodFuels has completed the biofuel bunkering of a Korean flagged Pure Car and Truck Carrier (PCTC) vessel, marking the first project of its kind.
Undertaken alongside Hyundai GLOVIS, the project saw vehicle carrier GLOVIS SUNRISE refuelled with 500 metric tonnes of GoodFuels’ sustainable biofuel blend MDF1-30 during a port visit to Vlissingen (Flushing), in the Netherlands, on 28th December 2022.
The trial took place during the vessel’s voyage between Europe and the Persian Gulf.
According to GoodFuels, its biofuel is produced from feedstocks that are certified as 100% waste or residue, including processed used cooking oil and animal waste fats.
The company states that its fuel delivers a well-to-exhaust carbon dioxide (CO2) reduction of 80-80% when compared to it fossil fuel equivalent.
