ADEKA is strengthening its local gas supply capacity in China through cooperation with Chinese companies, the Gas Review reports.
The Sinochem Group, a major chemical industry company in China, is currently moving forward with construction of a high-purity chlorine plant.
According to ADEKA, there are very few companies in China that produce semiconductor-grade chlorine, leading to calls for support in supplying high-quality gases rises to meet the needs of the semiconductor industry, which is growing as the result of a national project.
With the background, Sinochem Group, who has an electrolysis plant within their group and produces crude chlorine, decided to establish a production site within China for high-quality, high-purity chlorine, leading to this new investment.
The new plant will have an annual high-purity chlorine production capacity of about 1,000 tonnes, the Gas Review reports. It will be built in Lianyungang of Jiangsu Province and is scheduled to start operation in spring 2021.
