20 tonnes per day carbon capture plant planned for India

A new carbon dioxide (CO2) to methanol demonstration plant is to be constructed at NTPC Vindhyachal, India – and it will feature Carbon Clean’s technology capture 20 tonnes of CO2 daily.

Carbon Clean today (11th August) said it will work with Green Power International to design and build develop the carbon capture technology which will be installed in the plant’s glue gas stack and capture CO2 as it is emitted from the coal-fired boiler.

Green Power International won the contract from NTPC, India’s largest power utility provider, which wants to capture CO2 from waste flue gas and convert it into valuable products.

On the news, Varun Puri, Managing Director of Green Power International, said, “We are delighted to have won our first carbon capture contract. Together with NTPC’s drive for cleaner power and Carbon Clean’s proven and reliable technology, we are confident of bringing about a positive change to the environment.
